Being a kid, Indian style..

This is not a post which says how awesome it is to be a kid. This is that awkward part of being a kid. I am not sure about other countries, but here in India parents are really proud of their kids. And this post post shows how bad it was being one and those really weird moments.

The first and foremost thing was that when ever there were relatives at home, me and my sister were called out from our room to introduce us to the guests. It was a real great thing for my parents, but as a kid it was more like a fashion show. I hated it, totally. Let alone the fashion show, then the act of the talent show comes up. I had a good vocal ability, so I could normally sing well in my younger days. So right after that fashion show it was my talent show. I was many a times asked to sing to them, as if I was some kind of entertaining robot. But for a parent it was a real proud thing. Being praised for a multi-talented kid is something of an achievement for them.

I was born a Brahmin, so ghee is part of every other meal that is consumed. Parents have this kind of concern that their kid is not eating enough food or that there isn't enough vitamins and stuff like that. So they try to feed their kid to the fullest. I know this is a perfectly perfect act for any parent, I ain't blaming that. But as a kid I had fullest ghee-filled in every single meal every single day. Then once I started to grow up it kinda became a habit. And till last year I was eating like that and the effect was this huge tummy. Now reducing it is a pain in the arse.

Watching movies with parents is another big embarrassing moment. The embarrassment begins when there is a intimate scene or a suicide scene, they always used to change the channel. This used to leave us in a wondering state as to "what happens next? why should I not see? what will happen if I see? why is it so much of a secret?". Curiosity can would kill anyone; even a kid and this is the one of the main reasons to start watching porn. Here also their is not even a single fault from the parent, as they want to protect their kids. But sex-ed in schools and at home must get better and should be taught to even younger audience.

These are a few of those weird moments that I remembered. Even to this date, people are doing these kinda things. I myself have witnessed these incidents a few days ago. When I think about it now, I feel those moments are funny. But yes being a kid was always fun, tension-free and all play; I would still give up everything to get those days back.
